Download Problems

Downloading is normally a pretty straight forward procedure, but about 1% of people do have problems especially if they have a poor connection to the internet.  This page explains in detail how to download Focus Magic.

The information on this page is for Internet Explorer which is by far the most common internet browser. If you use a different browser, then the basic concept is still the same, but the actual words used will be a little different. You may want to print this page out.

If you get a screen which has the options Open, Save, Cancel, More Info, then click Save.

You should get a "Save As" screen. Browse to the "My Documents" folder, and then press "Save".

The progress bar should slowly move along. The download should take about half an hour to an hour with a dial up modem, or only a few minutes with a fast (broadband) internet connection.

When the download has finished, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to go to the "My Documents" folder, and check that the file size is correct (ie 4.4 MB).  If you do not have the entire file, then try downloading again.   The cache must be cleared before re-downloading by going to the Tools menu in IE, selecting Internet Options, and clicking on Delete Files under the Temporary Internet Files section.  If you still can't download the complete file then you may have quite a low quality internet connection (eg. if you are on a farm).  You could download Focus Magic using GetRight from http://www.getright.com

Double click on the file you just saved. eg. focusmagic3.exe.   The installation program should now start. If you get an error at this stage, or the computer slows to a crawl, or only shows a brief flash of something, then you have only downloaded part of the file, or the file is corrupt in some way, and you need to go pack to the previous paragraph.
