Example 1 - Fixing an image with motion blur
With this image the camera was moved in a direction shown by one of the arrows. Edges which go in the same direction are in focus (eg. the top left hand edge of the dome at the top of the hat), but all other edges have a double edge. This image was fixed using a Blur Width of 10 to produce the image on the right. Please note that although Focus Magic can handle motion blur better than any other program that we know of, it is not optimized to handle motion blur. We will make a dedicated motion blur feature in a future version.
Example 2 - Defocusing an Image
You can de-focus (blur or soften) an image by varying amounts (up to 20). The defocusing filter is not yet available as a plug-in.
Example 3 - Increase Resolution Filter
The "Increase Resolution" filter first doubles (or quadruples) the width and height of the image to produce the intermediate image, and then uses advanced interpolation techniques to remove the "pixelized" effect. There are three different filter types Normal, Harder and Softer. If you have a high quality picture, you can choose Harder. If you have a low quality picture, you need to choose Softer. The "Increase Resolution" filter is not available as a plug-in.
Example 4 - Despeckle Filter
The despeckle filter is used to smoothen an image which has been scanned in from a magazine, newspaper, etc. To despeckle an image, scan the image with a resolution high enough that you can see the individual speckles (dots). Count the distance between the dots, and enter that into the Dot Pitch in Focus Magic before running the filter. The despeckle filter is not yet available as a plug-in.
