How to Install Focus Magic for PhotoLine

Please follow the steps below to install the Focus Magic plug-in for PhotoLine.

  1. Download the latest version of Focus Magic for Mac.
  2. When the download has finished, extract the .plugin file from the .zip file you downloaded.
  3. Create a folder anywhere, and save the .plugin file to that folder.
  4. In PhotoLine, go to Menu Bar > PhotoLine > Preferences > Extended > Plug-ins.
    (Alternatively, go to Menu Bar > Filter > Manage Plug-ins.)
  5. There are four boxes to specify folders where you keep your plug-ins.  Click "Browse" to select the folder where you saved Focus Magic's .plugin file.
  6. Make sure the "Enable" box is ticked.
  7. Click "OK" to exit.

How to Install Focus Magic for GraphicConverter

If you navigate to GraphicConverter's plugins folder the normal way through Finder, it won't work.  You must navigate there through the "Go" menu as covered below.

  1. Download the latest version of Focus Magic for Mac.
  2. When the download has finished, extract the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file from the .zip file you downloaded.
  3. Copy the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file.
  4. Open Finder.
  5. Click the "Go" menu at the top.
  6. Hold down the Option key and select "Library".
  7. Select "Application Support".
  8. Select "GraphicConverter".
  9. Select "Plug-Ins".
  10. Paste the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file into the "Plug-Ins" folder.

Note: If you only see one filter option for Focus Magic (for example, Fix Motion Blur but not Fix Out-of-Focus Blur), download GraphicConverter 8.8 or newer from Lemke Software.

How to Install Focus Magic for Affinity Photo on Mac

If you are currently using Focus Magic with Photoshop, Affinity Photo may automatically detect your Photoshop plugins folder and give you access to your Photoshop plugins, including Focus Magic.  If that doesn't happen, or if you don't use Photoshop, install Focus Magic using one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use Affinity's Default Plugins Folder

  1. In Affinity Photo, go to Preferences.
  2. Click "Open Default Folder in Finder", near the top left of the Preferences dialog box, to open the default plugins folder.
  3. Download Focus Magic and extract or copy the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file from the .zip file to the default plugins folder opened in Step 2.
  4. In Affinity's Preferences, enable "Allow 'unknown' plugins to be used".
  5. Close Preferences and restart Affinity Photo.

Method 2: Use a Custom Plugins Folder

  1. Download Focus Magic and extract the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file from the .zip file.
  2. Create a folder anywhere with any name, and save or copy the "FocusMagic64.plugin" file to that folder.
  3. In Affinity Photo, go to Preferences.
  4. Under "Plugin search folders", click "Add".
  5. Find and add the custom plugin folder created in Step 2.
  6. Enable "Allow 'unknown' plugins to be used".
  7. Close Preferences and restart Affinity Photo.

Affinity has noted that plugin support is still a work in progress, so some technical issues may be encountered when using plugins.
