Affinity Photo 1.5 - Windows Install Notes
In a future update, Focus Magic will automatically install itself to Affinity Photo’s default plugins folder which is: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.5\Plugins
Until that time, you can manually install it using one of the following methods.
Method 1: Use Affinity's Default Plugins Folder
- Download and install Focus Magic
- Go to Focus Magic’s program folder which is found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Magic
- Copy the “FocusMagic64.8bf” plugin file (this is the 64-bit version of Focus Magic)
- In Affinity Photo, go to Preferences
- Click on the “Open Default Folder in Explorer” button, near the top left of the Preferences window, to open the default plugins folder
- Paste the “FocusMagic64.8bf” plugin file into the default plugins folder
- On Affinity’s Prefrences window, check/enable this option: “Allow ‘unknown’ plugins to be used”
- Close the Preferences window, then restart Affinity Photo for changes to take effect
Method 2: Use a Custom Plugins Folder
- Download and install Focus Magic
- Go to Focus Magic’s program folder which is found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Magic
- Copy the “FocusMagic64.8bf” plugin file (this is the 64-bit version of Focus Magic)
- Paste the “FocusMagic64.8bf” plugin file into your custom plugins folder, or create a new folder if you want to
- In Affinity Photo, go to Preferences
- In the “Plugin search folders” section, click the “Add” button
- Find and add the custom plugin folder you used in step 4
- On Affinity’s Prefrences window, check/enable this option: “Allow ‘unknown’ plugins to be used”
- Close the Preferences window, then restart Affinity Photo for changes to take effect
Important Note
It has been noted on Affinity's forum that plugin support is still a work in progress so some technical issues may be encountered when using any plugins with Affinity.
