System Requirements for Focus Magic

Focus Magic has been designed for both Windows and Mac.  The minimum requirements are as follows:

Operating-System Requirements

• Windows: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
• Mac: OS X 10.8 or later on Intel and Apple silicon Macs.

Supported Image Editing Apps

On a Windows computer, Focus Magic works as both a stand-alone app and a plugin.  For Mac, it's only available as a plugin.

RAM Requirements

If you're running Focus Magic as a plugin, it needs about 6 bytes per pixel per colour in 8-bit mode, or 12 bytes per pixel per colour in 16-bit mode.  For example, if you have an image that is 4″ × 5″ scanned in colour (3 colours) at 300 dpi, the image will be 1,200 × 1,500 pixels.  The memory required will be 1,200 × 1,500 × 6 × 3 = 32 MB for an 8-bit image.

If, however, you scan the image at a very high resolution of 3,000 dpi, the memory requirement will increase to 3,200 MB.

The more RAM you have in your computer, the better.
